MetroCats Hiking Trip to Schunemunk Mountain

Kevin Rosenberg, a 1996 alum, runs a company called Gear To Go Outfitters which organizes hiking trips in the Hudson Valley area and he has organized a hiking trip to Schunemunk Mountain just for the MetroCats.  The leaves should be turning, the sights will be amazing and it will be a great day in the great outdoors with fellow Arizona alums.

The hike is listed as “Moderate” but Kevin assured us that this is easily within most people’s ability and will be very rewarding.  It includes transportation, licensed guides and meals.  You just need to bring a backpack to carry your own water, rain gear (just in case) and any snacks you want while hiking.

The Hike: A relatively steep climb followed by a ridge walk with sweeping views of the Hudson Valley, Catskills, and the Shawangunks. Explore the beautiful pink rock of this prehistoric beach where scrub oak and pine trees now grow and wild blueberries can be picked right off of the trail during the late Spring and early Summer. Standing alone between the mountains of the Hudson Highlands and the Shawangunks, Schunemunk Mountain is a rewarding adventure that will provide you with great stories and amazing photos.

The MetroCats will be heading out to Brooklyn on Saturday, August 22nd to take a FREE tour of the Brooklyn Brewery followed by a tasting of their fine selection of beers ($4 each).

The MetroCats will be holding our next Board Meeting this Wednesday, July 1st at 7pm.  This meeting is open to everyone, whether you want to get involved or just want to give input or see how we do things.

We will be electing a new Treasurer as our former Treasurer, Josh Eichenstein, moved back to LA and Soren Hansen, our VP, has been acting Treasurer the past few months.

Join the MetroCats as we host area incoming freshmen and their families before they head off to Arizona for their freshman year. This a great opportunity to show the newest members of the Wildcat family what a great alumni nation they have joined. Drinks and hors d’ouevres will be served.

Directions: You must enter Macy’s on 34th Street in the middle of the block between 6th and 7th Avenues, across from the Old Navy. Do not enter the store itself. Once you go through the outer doors, go through the doors on the right, tell the security guard you are there for the Arizona Alumni function and take the elevator to the 13th floor.

Join the MetroCats as we head out to Citi Field to watch the Arizona Diamondbacks face off against the New York Mets.

We have a 25 seat reservations in section 532, rows 5-7, so purchase your tickets as soon as possible!

Join fellow Wildcat alums, along with alums from the Pac-10, Big 10 and Big 12, for our annual summer boat cruise.  This is our biggest event of the year and is always a great time.

The cruise will take place aboard the Queen of Hearts, a 3 level paddle-wheel boat, with outdoor dance floor and DJ.

A limited number of complimentary beer and liquor will be donated by our sponsors Bacardi and Bowery Wine Company.  There will also be a cash bar and buffet dinner available for purchase.

Come join us and our friends at the hip East Village wine bar, and official sponsor of the Cruise, the Bowery Wine Company.  This happy hour is just 2 weeks prior the cruise, so come for some drinks and check out the cruise talent in advance!

Cruise After Party

For those who couldn’t make the Cruise or just want to keep the party going, head on over to the Bowery Wine Company (13 East 1st St. @ Bowery).  Starts at 10:45pm and continues until ???.  Drink specials will be available.

Join the MetroCats for a private 1-hour tour of the Museum of Modern Art led by a professional art historian. This is a great opportunity to learn about the great works of art at the MoMA with fellow Arizona alumni.
